Appearance, sounds, and shortcuts
Use Settings → General, Sound, Shortcuts, and Appearance to make Restier fit your workspace.
Language, startup, and mini panel
Choose English (en-US) or Spanish (es-ES) in General Settings. Restier initially chooses a supported language from the operating system and falls back to English.
- Start Restier at login is off by default. On Windows Store builds, Settings manages the Windows startup task and shows the Store-specific guidance.
- Mini panel is off by default. Turn it on for an always-available timer panel. On GNOME, the desktop may hide tray icons; the panel remains optional, and after disabling it you can reopen Settings by launching Restier again. Install AppIndicator and KStatusNotifierItem Support to use the tray icon on GNOME.
- You can repeat onboarding from General → Repeat onboarding whenever you want to revisit the initial choices.
Break visuals
Appearance controls are available only when Fullscreen is the selected break mode. Choose one of the eight built-in themes:
forest, ocean, mountains, desert, beach, mountains2, rainy, and space.
You can also choose Random, which changes the built-in background selection, or Custom and import your own background image. The theme preview updates to help you confirm the selected visual before the next break. Switch to fullscreen mode first if the theme controls are hidden.
For light surfaces and their position controls, see Timers and breaks.
Sounds
Sounds are enabled by default at 70% volume. The volume control accepts 0–100% in 5% steps. Assign a sound to each event:
| Event | Default sound |
|---|---|
| Break start | chime |
| Break end | bell |
| Posture reminder | ping |
| Pre-break warning | soft |
| Daily clock-out | bell |
The production sound choices are none, chime, bell, ping, pop, and soft. Choose none for an individual event when you want it silent. Disable the master switch to silence every event without deleting the individual assignments.
Global shortcuts
Enable global shortcuts to use them outside the Restier window. Their saved defaults are:
| Action | Default |
|---|---|
| Pause or resume | CmdOrCtrl+Shift+P |
| Skip break | CmdOrCtrl+Shift+S |
| Open Settings | CmdOrCtrl+Shift+R |
| Toggle No Interruptions | Unassigned |
Set a shortcut by recording the desired combination in Settings. Resolve a reported conflict by choosing a different combination, or use the action’s reset control to restore its default. The master shortcut switch is off by default; saved combinations are not active until it is enabled.
For changes to break behavior rather than presentation, see Timers and breaks.
